General Studies

The General Studies major is an all-encompassing degree covering a wide range of academic and non-academic settings. We believe this curriculum is especially relevant in an ever-changing world. The General Studies degree plan allows students to engage in study across the disciplines-for example, history, mathematics, sociology, psychology, literature, and religion-while also allowing students to choose their own academic emphases and to explore more in depth a particular area of study if they wish, as long as the basic requirements of the degree plan and of the University are met. This "generalist degree" offers an employer proof that an applicant has developed good skills in judgment, critical thinking, and analysis.
