Admission Requirements

Transfer admission is based on your most recent grade-point average and academic standing.

To be considered for admission to USW, you must satisfy the following admission criteria:

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA (4.0 scale)
  • Good academic standing at most recent institution

First-time freshmen or transfer students who do not meet the standard undergraduate admissions requirements will be required to submit an appeal to be reconsidered for admission. Transfer students who left most recent institution on academic or disciplinary probation or suspension will be admitted on academic probation if appeal is approved.

Application Process

  • Explore University of the Southwest’s undergraduate majors/areas of emphasis.
  • Complete the free Undergraduate Admissions Application.
  • Submit required documents.
    • Final and official college transcripts from all previous institutions
    • Official high school or GED transcript (if less than 60 college credit hours earned)
    • Admission documents can be sent via mail to:

      • Or electronically through the following e-transcript providers: Parchment, eScrip-Safe and National Student Clearinghouse.
      • Transcripts delivered in person must remain in the sealed envelope it was issued.
      • Student copies, personal copies, PDF’s or photos of test scores/transcripts do not constitute official records or copies and will not be accepted.
  • Allow 3 business days for your application to be processed. Upon receipt, you will be sent an acknowledgement via email by your Director of Undergraduate Admissions & Student Support. Next steps, additional information, further requests (if applicable) and initial admission decisions will be shared via email.
