A field closely related to special education, educational diagnostics dives deeper into the areas of assessment and educational programming. Educational diagnosticians receive specialized training in the use of formal and informal assessments to make decisions regarding determining the presence of educational disabilities, placement options, and needed services. Educational diagnosticians work closely with families of children with disabilities to ensure that every child is provided an individualized and appropriate education while enrolled in public schools.
USW's educational diagnostics program is aligned closely with the New Mexico Public Education Standards and utilizes the Council of Exceptional Children standards to guide curriculum and practice.
