March 11, 2020 —
The USW administrative team continues to review the recommendations issued by the CDC and DOE for higher education institutions in response to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus outbreak. The university is taking a proactive stance to protect the health and safety of our students, faculty, and professional staff. To that end, USW has implemented new student protocols (linked below) to ensure that students can complete the academic requirements for the semester while eliminating any unnecessary health risks. USW is NOT closing campus. Instead, the university is working to ensure that students have flexibility in completing their courses as they make decisions about health, safety, and travel. USW is working to accommodate student needs during this challenging time.
Because USW is in a unique position to easily host all courses online, it is the stance of the university to fully implement this and give students the flexibility to complete the remaining semester online without fear of failing or jeopardizing their graduation status. Again, USW is NOT closing and campus and all major functions of the university will remain open to those who elect to stay.
We ask that students, parents, and anyone interested please review the guidance protocols online as soon as possible. All USW courses will have the remaining semester course content made available online no later than Friday, March 20th. All on-campus, undergraduate students can elect to complete the remainder of the semester entirely online.
